SUB:BASS had its humble beginning in early 2016 as the brainchild of Wellington DJs, Bambi, Fortitude and Vasquez. They believed that Wellington needed a monthly night to showcase the local Drum & Bass talent.

Starting out in The Blind Tiger, the basement of the iconic venue Bodega, the nights were promptly recognised for the bright lights, big bass and bigger vibes, and quickly moved upstairs to the main room until the venue closed in late 2016.

Since then, SUB:BASS have moved to The Grand on Courtenay Place and have been building their rapport including hosting New Zealand's liquid D&B don, Tokyo Prose and Boston of Symmetry Recordings.
